Regicleanse is a registry cleaning application by regicleanse.com which
was first introduced in November 2008. Developers of the tool call it a
"system optimizer" which is guaranteed to ensure that your computer doesn't
run at a slow speed. In addition to cleaning your registry, the tool also
offers to improve the speed of your computer by fixing your Internet
browser, managing your startup programs, and cleaning up your private data.
When we heard about this product, our test team decided to find out
whether the Regicleanse application actually delivers what it promises.
About Regicleanse
A mere 3.4 MB in size, the tool is offered both as a free demo version and
as a fully paid standard version which will cost you $37.89.
Regicleanse is compatible for use with Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, 2003, XP
and
Our recommendation is that you first download the free version of this
application to see how you're able to handle it, as well as get familiar
with the features in the full version.
Installation And Scanning
It is always advisable that you ensure a spyware protection application is
loaded onto your PC before you try out any new applications.
Out team found that Regicleanse downloaded quickly and got installed
without any hitch. We found it very easy to use with its user-friendly
interface. The ‘Clean’ tab allows you to manually select the sections you
wish to scan. These scan options are:
For the best scanning, it's recommended that you select all the options
available.
The entire scanning process went through quickly and we found the problems
listed out either as Medium risks or High risks. What we found a little
surprising was that even invalid Windows shortcuts were listed as High
risk—which is not actually true.
Regicleanse allows you to make a backup of the registry, and we recommend
you do so before repairing the registry by using the tool. If the repair
process doesn't go as intended, you can restore the original registry from
the backup you took earlier.
Features
A good registry cleaning application should have features that perform
quick scans, thoroughly cleans the registry, and optimizes the performance
of the system’s registry. Over long term use, the registry of a computer
will accumulate invalid entries and obsolete data, and end up with traces of
software that were incorrectly or incompletely removed. Drivers, too, can
become corrupted, and startup programs also have a tendency to develop some
problems. All these degrade the performance of the system’s registry.
Regicleanse performs a deep scan of your registry. The tool also scans
through invalid registry entries that are not detected by applications that
just skim the surface.
Through the ‘Quick PC Maintenance’ button you get to optimize the
performance of the PC in three main sections. These are:
Computer Health
Computer Security
System Optimizer
You have an option to either choose one or more options at a time, or
click the ‘Repair All’ button to fix all problems in one go.
Our Verdict
Our team feels that Regicleanse is worth a look. Regicleanse is easy to
install and with its user friendly interface it is quite easy to use - even
by non-techies and novices.
Its free demo version does a good job of scanning and detecting the errors and invalid entries, though we are a bit hesitant regarding its threat levels (it may just be hype to try to convince people to buy the full version when the problems aren't as severe as described). The paid version does a good job of improving the overall performance of your computer.
Our team is satisfied with the way the tool scans the PC, the way it
deletes all unwanted information, entries and other detected anomalies, and
its registry backup feature.
We recommend that this is one registry cleaning application worth trying.
